Maritime Industry Policy and Strategy

JMS is capable of supporting policy implementations and formulating strategies in domestic and international maritime industry utilizing extensive knowledge and experience as maritime consultancy including the formulation of improvement plans of domestic traffic routes for remote islands and conducting surveys related to international rule making for the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

LNG as ship fuel is an option for large-sized ocean going ships while low sulphur fuel is an option for coastal shipping to meet international emission reduction targets to improve environmental performance. New frameworks and restrictions are required to introduce in order to operate LNG fuel bunkering by bunker vessels. JMS is capable of supporting framework arrangements to promote from planning phases by maritime specialists. JMS has been making extensive contribution to a wide range of maritime issues including shipbuilding industry developments, pilotage system and working environments for domestic mariners.
One of our distinctive projects is the formulation of an improvement plan of a domestic traffic route for remote islands. It is necessary to consider balancing the level of service and the sustainability to meet needs of the specific islands to improve their essential transport and logistics routes.
JMS specialists are capable of conducting traffic route and management diagnoses and field surveys and creating vessel specifications to support formulating improvement plans of traffic routes.

Surveys supporting research for alternative bunker fuels such as LNG

The limit for sulphur in fuel oil used on board ships was enforced from 2020 under the recent global trends of environmental restrictions. LNG, LPG and methanol fuels are considered to be promising alternative marine fuels. Number of vessels using LNG and other alternative fuels are globally increasing and there are ongoing cases planning LNG-fueled ships for domestic shipping.
JMS is capable of covering the whole process from the planning phase in shipbuilding of LNG bunkering vessels to the operation phase of drawing up bunkering manuals. We have been supporting policy making in formulating safety procedures of LNG bunkering which contributes to promote the use of LNG and other alternative marine fuels for government organizations and local authorities.

Improvement of remote island route planning

Remote island traffic route is an essential mode of transportation and logistics for the residents. In formulating improvement plans of domestic traffic routes for remote islands it is necessary to consider balancing the level of service and the sustainability to meet the needs of the specific islands.
It is necessary to increase the number of passengers and the transport volume to raise the business sustainability of remote island routes which is led by the shipping operators along with the stakeholders in various ways including attracting tourists and regional development campaigns.
JMS is capable of supporting improvement planning of remote island traffic routes with our specialists by conducting traffic route and management diagnoses and field surveys of shipping operation and creating vessel specifications suitable for the navigation route.
