JAPAN MARINE SCIENCE INC. was established in September 1985 with wholly owned subsidiary by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha. as an aim “To make the utmost utilize of the economic and social value of the sea while preserving the marine environment”. In addition to maritime know-how possessed by the captain and the chief engineer, expertise in human resources with shipping, shipbuilding and information systems, we are developing a consulting business in domestic and overseas for various maritime fields (shipping, ports, shipbuilding, ships/related equipment, IT, environment) including the development and use of ship handling simulators. Meanwhile, in June 2011, a capital tie-up with Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK), the capital tie-up was dissolved in January 2019, and in 2015, we developed the first large-scale 4K resolution simulator in the world and introduced DPS simulator.
In July 2019, in order to achieve new value creation and efficiency listed in the Mid-term Business Plan “Staying Ahead 2022 with Digitalization and Green” of NYK Group, we amalgamated with Yusen Navtec Co., Ltd. (established in October 1987) and Yusen Engineering Co., Ltd. (established in April 1982) which are technology companies within NYK group, and integrated the management resources of each company.
In addition, in April 2022, we succeeed the oscillation testing business from MTI Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of NYK Group.
