A documentary video of the fully autonomous ship project “DFFAS” is released.

From February 26 to March 1, the DFFAS (Designing the Future of Full Autonomous Ship) consortium* conducted a trial simulating the actual operation of a fully autonomous ship at a distance of approximately 790 kilometers between Tokyo Bay and Ise Bay.

The consortium is participating in the Joint Technological Development Programme for the Demonstration of Fully Autonomous Ships under the fully autonomous ship project "MEGURI 2040" administrated by the Nippon Foundation.

Japan Marine Science Inc. served as the representative company for the consortium and was responsible for the development of ARS (Advanced Routing Simulation and planning) system.

This video follows the one and a half year project to realize an unmanned ship.

The whole picture of the project introduced in detail, incorporating not only the actual trial, but also the challenges for social implementation for the future and the technical elements of the unmanned vessels that the DFFAS consortium aims to realize.
