Transport Equipment Vibration Testing

Using a large 3D shaking table, we reproduce the vibrations and shaking that transport equipment (such as trains and trailers) experience during operation. This contributes to the evaluation of the strength of the equipment and its attached devices, as well as the investigation of damage causes.

Purpose

  • To evaluate the strength of transport equipment and attached devices
  • To investigate the causes of damage to transport equipment and attached devices

Features of the Large 3D Shaking Table

  • Large shaking table capable of loading a 20-foot container
  • Can reproduce vibrations, shocks, and shaking experienced during ship, rail, and trailer transport
  • Can faithfully reproduce acceleration, velocity, and displacement of seismic waves from the Great East Japan Earthquake
  • Provides analytical data such as acceleration response spectra and transfer functions necessary for earthquake-resistant product design
  • Capable of combined excitation (pitching, rolling, yawing), 3-axis, 6 degrees of freedom
  • Table size is 2.6m x 6.2m, allowing multiple test specimens to be evaluated simultaneously
  • Electro-hydraulic system, suitable for testing liquid tanks or using water tanks, resistant to liquid leakage
  • Can vibrate without hydraulic pressure accumulation, enabling long continuous excitation or repeated short waveforms

Reproducible Actual Transport Vibration Waves

Applicable Standards

JIS E4031-1994 Class 1, Class 2Vibration testing of railway vehicle-mounted parts
IEC 61373 Category 1 Class AVibration testing of railway vehicle-mounted parts

Examples of Transport Equipment Vibration Testing

Manufacturer B demonstrated that their equipment has sufficient strength against vehicle vibrations by reproducing vibrations experienced during vehicle operation.
